Game, set and match

The open construction of the award winning Millennium Building at Wimbledon's All England Lawn Tennis Club presented an interesting design challenge - Building Design Partnership did not want the minimalist exterior encumbered with rainwater downpipes.

We solved that particular dilemma by designing a stair with a downpipe encased in its central column.

Apart from minor problems negotiating narrow streets around Wimbledon with the lengthy continuous central column, the job went very smoothly and the All England LTC are delighted with the combination of elegance and practicality that this solution delivers.
