Co-operation pays dividends

A stunning helical staircase provides the focal point for the reception area at the Jewson Central Office building in Coventry. The staircase, designed by project architects Design Core, sweeps up to the first floor with a sleek stainless steel balustrade and wooden treads. A number of unusual features have been incorporated including a glass insert in each tread, plus elegant supports for the balustrade.

"It wasn't easy to get the idea of the staircase over to the client," says Design Core's Brian Winward, "so we asked Crescent to produce some graphics of the staircase concept. The graphics illustrated how the staircase would work and the client was delighted with it."

Our CAD systems are among the most advanced in this industry and often prove helpful in helping architects explain a concept to a client. The result here at Jewson is an excellent example of how architects and manufacturers can work together to develop original elements.
